Overview
La visite d'Oncle Charlie à sa famille, dans la petite ville tranquille de Santa Rosa, plante le décor de l'une des plus fascinantes incursions au royaume du suspense. Joseph Cotten joue le rôle du charmant Oncle Charlie, assassin séduisant qui, la police à ses trousses, se rend de Philadelphie en Californie.
Mais, rapidement, sa nièce inconsciente, qui se prénomme également Charlie (Teresa Wright), commence à soupçonner son oncle d'avoir assassiné plusieurs riches veuves. C'est alors que commence une course poursuite mortelle.
